Calling all gardeners
It may be the middle of winter, but the Chatham Community Garden is looking forward to spring planting and a bountiful harvest of fresh vegetables and beautiful flowers.
More than a dozen prime garden plots are available for the coming season, and applications are now being accepted from interested gardeners. Plots at the Chatham Community Garden are ideal for people who love to grow vegetables and flowers, but who don't have enough space or sunshine for a garden at their home, townhouse or apartment.
Full 10X10 plots cost $35 for the entire 2017 season. Half plots are available for $18. Application forms and garden guidelines are available on the Chatham Township website Click Here.
If you are an existing plot holder but have not yet sent your application and payment for 2017, do so immediately before your plot is reassigned. New applicants should not delay. Last year all garden plots were committed, and plots for 2017 will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.
For more information, mark your calendar to attend the 2017 Garden Kick-Off Meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, at the Chatham Public Library's downstairs meeting room. New and interested members are invited to come talk with experienced gardeners. Guest speakers will share gardening tips, Garden Committee officers will answer questions, award prizes and present the 2017 schedule.
The goal of the Chatham Community Garden is to provide an environment for individuals and families to grow a thriving garden, to build and nurture community friendships, and to share and grow gardening skills.
